I Own The Heat: Red, White & Gold

WHAT I'M WEARING:

TOP: H & M (Similar here)
BOTTOM: Forever21 (here)
SHOES: Steve Madden (similar here)
BAG: Michael Kors (similar here)
EARRINGS: Jewelmint's Oyster (similar here)
ON WRISTS: AE leather cord wrap with rhinestones & MK watch
RINGS: Kate Spade bowtie, Macy's C&C brand ring,
Banana Republic's Rose Quartz ring
LIPSTICK: Rimmel Kate Moss Collection in #12

Many of you liked my first outfit ever, with the sheer, sleeveless top so I decided to do another outfit for you guys!  Light clothing with bright colors is the way to go.  I also don't spend a whole lot on them.  Instead of spending $$$ on clothes, splurge on a small cross-body bag that really stands out--trust me, you're going to look like a drowned kitty at the end of the day no matter what you wear but a sexy bag is fail-proof.  You can't find a bag more eye-catching and envy-inducing than this gold one I'm wearing!  When June comes around, I abandon layering tops all together, instead, I find colors and prints that goes great together, like this red, white and gold pairing.  I like the way my a** in these red shorts screams: IT'S FREAKING HOT AND I LOVE IT.  What does your a** want to convey in this heat?

Three words when it gets seriously too hot to bother with anything: braids, shades & lipstick ;)

Thanks for reading!  Use SPF and stay hydrated, my beautiful readers!

Sailor Inspired Look: Happy Memorial Day

WHAT I'M WEARING:
DRESS: Charlotte Russe (old) (sailor inspired dress here)
SHOES:  Via Spiga Gracie (here)
NECKLACES: Forever21
BAG: L.A.M.B (here in black)
Nails: China Glaze Hunger Games in Harvest Moon

Happy Memorial Day everyone!  It was absolutely scorching out in New York City!  I really wanted to do a  Memorial Day/American flag/sailor inspired look in honor of our brave soldiers of the present and the past.  I dug up this dress in my closet and it was just perfect for the occasion!  I also love stripes for the summer!  I wore my gray L.A.M.B bag because of the rope-y strap details.  It's my go-to bag because it's a nice size and it has a cute bohemian "I don't care that I'm slouchy"-look.  As for accessories, I layered an anchor necklace with a treasure chest necklace so my chest wouldn't appear so bare.  I bought these when I was obsessed with Pirates of the Caribbeans.  I have an obsession with jewelry/accessories that remind me of movies or shows I like even if it's not the "official"  merchandise.  I love True Blood so I have a lot of vampire-inspired jewelry!  My shoes are new!  I've been searching for a nude shoe to go with colorful dresses and I decided to get these flat-forms with a strap.

So what did I do today?  On the 28th of every month, my boyfriend and I celebrate our anniversary date!  It's not a very big deal since it's an annual one.  (Our annual one is in July!)  We spent the early afternoon indoors watching Pearl Harbor, (we only made it through disk one).  Then we went to Gyu-Kaku and we found various spots on our way there to shoot these photos.  Then we went shopping by Union Square!

This is my absolute favorite: Gyu-Tan!
Garlic rice, Various meats & Tuna Ahi Poke

ACCESSORIES:
Mint cord-wrap with rhinestones from H&M (recent purchase!)
Silver Swan bracelet from Jewelmint

Mint feather earrings from Forever21 (Similar here

As you can tell from my pictures, I had wayyy too much fun shooting this outfit for you guys!  I also bumped into my good friend Anna of NALY JEWELS while shooting!  Check out her handmade jewelry!

It was such a gloomy day so I decided to do a simple layered look with vivid colors to brighten up the streets!  Lately, I've been on a frenzy hunt for anything mint/teal/turquoise. I even have mint-colored feather earrings, that's how crazy obsessed I am.  I decided to layer my paper-thin tank with another popular piece this spring--the sleeveless, collared button-down shirt.  I undid the buttons and turned it into a vest!  I also tucked one end of the tank into my jeans because I'm cool like that.

I absolutely adore my hot pink Michael Kors bag.  It's very similar to the LV's tote bag but so much cuter and more affordable!  It's so tempting to get that bag in every color!  The pink really matches my personality and I find it surprisingly easy to match my wardrobe.  Expect a lot more outfits with this bag!

I'm thinking of ways I can style this plain white collared button down...Perhaps I should take on a DIY project to make it more fun!  I would love your suggestions!

One Dangerous Kitty: Black & Pink + Laced-up Wedges

 WHAT I'M WEARING:
TOP: Necessary Clothing (Similar here & here)
BOTTOM: Forever21 (Similiar here)
SHOES: Bought it in Tokyo! (Similar here)
BAG: Michael Kors (here in pink)
BRACELETS: Pink with gold link from H&M, Silver Swan from Jewelmint
NECKLACE:  Forever21 (recent purchase!) Here
RING: Banana Republic

I find it hard to describe my style.  I keep it casual without being too boring or under-dressed.  I love incorporating a funky, standout, rock-ish piece with my girly outfits.  My standout piece for this outfit is my beloved gray laced-up wedges that I bought from Japan last year.  I feel like one dangerous kitty in these shoes!

I'm always on the search for more interesting, "different" tops.  Anything with cut-outs, asymmetry, laced, fly-aways, etc.--I want it!   I like tops that are interesting on its own so I don't have to layer it.  I have on a cuffed, pleated pink shorts to make this look more spring appropriate.  The necklace I have on is my new favorite accessory at the moment!  The way the two leaves dangle at different lengths makes this piece more interesting, it's like a layering piece on its own.

Where did I go, you ask?  I work on weekends now, so after work I decided to walk around with The Boyfriend!  Look what we found parked on SoHo?  The infamous Kimchi Taco truck!

Blue Sky & Garden Inspired Look: Mother's Day Weekend

WHAT I'M WEARING:
TOP: H&M (only $4.95! Bought it last week)
BOTTOM: Forever 21 (old)
BELT: Old
SHOES:  old from Soda?
 BAG: Michael Kors
ACCESSORIES: H&M, Michael Kors necklace
Gold wrap watch from La Mer

Hi everyone!  I apologize for such a late Mother's Day blog post but I hope you can still enjoy this clear blue sky & garden inspired look!  Mother's Day weekend in New York was absolutely beautiful.  I took my mom to Macy's and she picked out a beautiful Swarovski pendant and earring set.  She's very excited to wear it for the first time to my sister's middle school graduation next month!

Now back to my outfit!  I feel like skipping because this outfit makes me feel so cheerful!  The silky texture of my blue blouse softens the loud and wild floral pattern.  I threw on a black weaved belt to cover the black waistband of the skirt.  I rarely wear this skirt because it really screams for attention and it's hard to find a top that really compliments it.  Do you think a pink top would've matched?  A black top?

Thank you Victoria for being my photographer for this outfit!  Victoria had quite an impressive outfit on but she wouldn't let me feature her!  Believe it or not, it is ridiculously hard to shoot in the city, especially if your camera isn't one of those professional ones!  There was quite some traffic right on this street and car passengers kept on staring at me and Victoria!  One guy in a car even took out his phone to take a picture of me!

An Airy Fairy: High-Low dress + Rose Gold belt

WHAT I'M WEARING:
DRESS: Forever 21
SHOES: Sole Society Blake
BELT: H&M
RINGS: from Macy's (right hand); Kate Spade (left hand)

I'm always looking for simple yet fun dresses so when I found this gem at Forever21 on sale for $13, I had to get it!  I've been on the hunt for a rose gold braided belt to go with the braided straps of this gorgeous high-low dress.  I finally found one at H&M today and I was super excited to style this look before the sun sets.  The movement of this dress is absolutely amazing and it was extremely hard to capture it on camera! (At least on mine.)  I kept accessories minimal because the rose gold belt really shines in the sunlight, especially against the black.  Now I'm hunting for the perfect rose gold floral/cut-out cuff, or perhaps a rose gold bracelet.  Any suggestions?  Thanks for reading!

Margaret

Effortless Layering: Bright Blue over Muted Grays

a
Hi everyone!  It has been a gloomy week in NYC so I decided to add a pop of bright blue to my outfit!  I have on a men's button down top from H&M.  I rolled up the sleeves and knotted the bottom.  Underneath, I have a gray mini tank dress from Forever21.  As for shoes, I have on the very comfortable "Finch" wedges from Indigo by Clarks.  It's a very pretty neutral mushroom color and they go with everything!

I have on a drapey blue and silver beaded/chain necklace.  I chose a silver-toned piece because it compliments the grays.  Since the beads are also blue, it doesn't compete with the blue shirt.

I'm actually not rummaging for anything!  I just want to show you how awesome this bag is.  I got this Deux Lux gray convertible cross-body/ shoulder bag from Urban Outfitters a few years ago for only $20!

So where did I wind up going?  I went to get crepes with my sister, who also happened to be my photographer today!  Thanks for reading!

Carefree & Polished: Sheer top + Cuffed Jeans

Hi readers!  Welcome to my blog! I would like to dedicate my first blog entry to my outfit of the day.  My weekend outfits tend to be simple yet polished.  I have on a classic black blazer from Zara.  It may be tempting to sport sweatpants and a hoody on Sundays but what you wear really affects the way you carry out the day!  I wore this to have dinner with the Boyfriend, who is also the photographer!

I layered a white sheer top with gold buttons from H&M over a white tank.  My gray jeans are from Kitson and my gray suede almond toe pumps are from Steve Madden.  I love pairing cuffed jeans with heels!  It's a great way of wearing heels casually, without looking too dressy.  Even though cuffed jeans tend to make your legs appear shorter, the same color jeans and shoes makes my legs look longer.  I'm just under 5'3"!

As for accessories, I have on three different metals: gold, silver & rose gold!  I don't think it clashed at all but let me know in the comments if you think otherwise!  I'm wearing a rose gold/ rose quartz, coral beaded necklace from Banana Republic.  I always wear my silver Michael Kors watch with the Silver Swan bracelet from Jewelmint.  On my other wrist, I'm wearing the Zoe Bangle, also from Jewelmint.  The gold chains from my MK bag compliment the gold buttons on my shirt.  Since this is such a neutral outfit, the accessories are nice accents and aren't overpowering.

Look forward to more outfits and adventures in my upcoming postings!

Thank you for reading!

Margaret
